About 3DSyrup
3DSyrup was born of a desire to improve the way we train our drone pilots.
I'm Josh — a Firefighter-Medic, HazTech, and Drone Pilot.
Like other teams, we used the NIST Open Test Lane to train and evaluate our pilots — but our wooden version took up valuable storage space and was a challenge to deploy and transport. There had to be a better way!
Having previously worked with 3D printing, I turned to learning CAD on my days off. Pairing those skills, I designed a modular 3D-printed NIST Open Test Lane — lightweight, easy to assemble, and small enough to fit in a carry-on. When I showed the prototype to other pilots, the response was unanimous: "You need to sell these!"

So I did! The design was refined based on user feedback, and we quickly outgrew our single printer. Now, with our own website, a small print farm, and dedicated production space, we ship kits to Universities and Public Safety agencies across the country.

As a LEDA-certified proctor for the NIST course myself, I can say each product is built by someone who actually uses it in the field.
If you're serious about sUAS training, we built this for you!
